IRA sympathiser Ted Kennedy was no friend of Britain – Telegraph Blogs

Simon Heffer despairs at Gordon Brown's decision to honour a champion of Irish terrorism.
Americans are mourning the loss of IRA supporter and fundraiser Ted Kennedy and expecting people across the Atlantic to do the same, less than a week after threatening to boycott British produce in retaliation to Scotland releasing the Lockerbie bomber who many people still believe was made a scapegoat in order to secure a conviction.

15 movies in 15 minutes

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Rules as received from a friend: Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen movies you've seen that will always stick with you. First fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes. Tag fifteen friends, including me because I'm interested in seeing what movies my friends choose. (To do this, go to your Notes tab on your profile page, paste rules in a new note, cast your fifteen picks, and tag people in the note — upper right hand side.) I hope you participate, even if you didn't get tagged.

[ Jamie's comment: ok, this is hard. I can only think of **ONE** of hand that will 'always stick with me' - I'm not much of a movie fan really, so most of these will be "films I remember seeing" and nothing more - my tastes, though are comedies, and action movies ]

1) Breakfast Club (Allie Sheedy, wow! – oh, good social commentry too !)

2) Ellen Brokavitch or something like that

3) E.T.

4) Star Wars IV (i think – the first one)

5) Die Hard – good action film

6) Die Harder – good action film

7) Die Hardest (I think) – good action film
8) The History Boys (Good if you're trying to get to sleep)

9) Scream – nice slasher pic

10) Scary Movie – Decent spoof

11) Pulp Fiction – I vaguely remember this film

12) Matrix – not bad film. let down by part 2 and especially by part 3

13) Independence Day – good film. typical “america saves the world” – not that I blame you. British films are generally “britain saves the world”

14) The day after tomorrow (i think) – I love flood movies

15) Close Encounters of the third kind

Hard to keep it to only 15. ;-)

[ Jamie's comment: Hard to think of a whole 15 ! ]
