Ford is developing anti-hacking technology in a bid to make upcoming in-car WiFi systems resistant against drive-by downloads and other forms of computer security attacks.
Do you really want the same computer that runs your car only seperated from the internet by a 'firewall'.
Why the hell can't the operational electronics be kept as a completely unconnected system… Imagine “Give us your credit card details and we'll not disable your brakes”:
“Ford has recognised that setting up wireless systems in cars need to be accompanied by improved security features. Encryption will be used to protect the WiFi network, with firewalls used to segment the vehicle's operational processors from entertainment and information systems.”
